As the
population of Western Washington continues to grow, development expands
both within urban cores and semi-rural, suburban areas. While density
within the urban growth boundary promotes smart growth, many open spaces
and wildlife habitats are being replaced with built environments that
permanently remove natural areas. Without careful planning and design, our
region can lose natural spaces and important ecological services that are
unique to our region. This loss weakens long-term ecological and community
vitality.
Cohabitats is a consulting collective of professionals
that collaboratively provide advisory services for conservation
development, land planning and design. Through partnerships, we provide a
full suite of services for land use including site assessment and
planning, restorative landscape planning, green marketing services, and
community education for fostering stewardship.
We work with green
developers and builders, foresters, farmers, jurisdictions, conservation
groups, commercial projects, urban home owners and neighborhoods, rural
and suburban land owners, co-housing groups and intentional
communities.
