Interpretive Gardens

Commercial & Corporate Campuses . Residential . Schools . Hospitals

We believe in connecting people to nature in a meaningful way. One way is through the installation of educational interpretive gardens that showcase Pacific Northwest native plants in a variety of ways: Ethnobotany (historical and contemporary human relationships and uses of plants), medicinal plants, ecological and permaculture roles of specific species of plants, and wildlife relationships with plants. These interpretive gardens add a beautiful way to engage people with nature even in urban areas. These gardens can add dimension to your biophilic landscape design. We consult on designs, select plants, create interpretive signage and materials, small-scale installations, and partner with others on large-scale installations.

Examples of Ethnobotany Plants

Plants were used for food, medicine, housing, clothing, dyes, baskets, tools and weapons. The plants below are just a few of the vast number of plants that had a critical role in our region’s history and many still used today.
